Nate Horsfall's Character Page

This is the section to come and look at if you're interested in seeing some character work from me. I have things from my earliest work, (back when I was real bad) to what I do presently.

It ranges from 2d to 3d, but mostly is 2d works. As I do more of course, this section will continue to grow. It has become quite big now, and some of the characters have gotten their open pages too. You're free to take any of this stuff and just keep it for art purposes. Just don't claim it as your own.

This was one of my first decent characters that I drew when I set out to improve on my charcter skills. Actually, I like him alot. I at first wanted to do styles and outfits I dont usually go with, so I threw him in some armor type suit, with a very messed up sword.. thingy. But still, I'm pretty happy with this one, for starting out, it's not all that bad.

This one was another different drawing for me. Just some long haired loser smoking up in the back alley, the hands I screwed up, and the smoke blowing isnt the greatest, but it's alright, seeing as how I drew it in the car..

This guy was actually inspired by seifer from FF8, I liked his pose with a sword, while watching my brother play it and it caught my eye as a cool pose.. It's when he charges up to attack the enemy after hitting them with a fireball. And if you have NO idea what i'm talking about, dont worry, just look at my picture and LIKE it! please? heh..

this was actually inspired by those little glow sitcks people have during the forth of july, and halloween sometimes.. I was watching a kid spin one around and i thought it looked really cool, the blur and such, so i tried to incorporate that into one of my drawings. It turned out okay.. but it should have been bigger, and maybe angled differently. Also, the jacket and stuff was what I was wearing at the time, so I sorta modeled this around me.. but still had nothing to look at as in how the jacket would move. Still, it's just a sketch.

This is one of my low end, earlier female drawings when I was determined to get better at drawing them. If you REALLY wanna see and old one, check out Felicia's pic on the Fox page, thats pretty lousy compared to how I can do now.. needless to say, I will be doing her over. Anyway, this was just kind of like some futuristic cop, as evident by the strange shoes, but still, the whole thing could use an overhual. But I dont mind it, this was a learning experience, I saw what was wrong and went from threre.

Which lead me to this, my first good drawig of a female.. I drew anatomy sketches a few times before using all of it together, and I actually did this while waiting in line for the barber shop. It was partly inspired by Titan AE, the human girl on that.. I forget her name, but I just liked the idea of some outerspace-like girl with a big gun of some sort.. so I just drew this up. It's actually one of my favorites now that I go back and look at them all.

It's SuperPunk!! This was just a joke, I was drawing up the figure and my old girlfriend looked over and said it looked alot like a superhero, so I thought that was a cool idea, and went with it. The "Super Punk" idea just came out of nowhere.. I couldnt think of a good title, so again I decided to do something new. I usually don't draw punk type people.. so this was fun. This is another one of my favorites.. I nailed the look for that cape ^_^

This was ACTUALLY ment to be a girl hanging on a pole casually, like just hanging out with some friends next to a lightpost, etc. But it NOW looks more like a pole dancer.. and I did NOT intend it that way. She's dressed very casual, like a tomgirl, just hanging out.. if I wanted a stripper.. i'd have put her in a totally different outfit.. Ah well..

This was ment to look like a shy girl in a fancy dress. Kinda like, too shy to ask you if you'd like to dance.. but you can see thats what she wants.. but, it was kinda small and my pencil was smudging alot, so it's really kinda hard to see it.. but i still am fairly happy with it. Another in car project.. straight lines are a bitch..

This was a concept sketch for a possible character to animate. I had to choose from a mess of characters, 5 minimum but I had a few more to choose from. So for this, it's just kind of like some futuristic cop again.. but better. I detailed the heck out of one drawing, and the rsst are simply done, no shading and such. But i am very happy with how it turned out.

This actually turned into one of my top 5 characters later on..

This little freak was just kind of a joke at first, but then I thought it might be cool to animate something like it. This was inspired from Titan AE yet again, that Weapons expert Stith, or however you spell it. But she has extremely large wide legs, and I thought it might be interesting to do something like it, with really weird body proportions. So I created this freak with really huge arms and legs, but a short body.. hehe, he was fun to make.. maybe I'll even chose to animate him someday..

This guy, really has no underlying reason for him. I wanted to draw something with big ears, because ears are fun to work with.. then I thought.. maybe some half human type deal, so I just started going, and I think he looks like part bat with those ears.. but no wings. I really dont know WHAT he is! but i like him! ^_^

This Is the Link to Fox's page, if you saw that before, it was on the main page link. He has a massive page because: 1. He's my main character, and 2. because I have far more than just drawings, on his page. Animation frames, 3d renders, history... And more! it's a huge list..

Kain is one of the extra characters who becomes a part of the DRF storyline later. He's a moutain lion who fights with grace and is much more serious and well spoken then the other characters. Kain is a soldier. Very different from Fox, but both Fox and Kain share the same goal in the end:

Getting rid of DRF.

Cade was my first 3d character ever. But like everything else, had to start out with a drawing, and build a story onto that. He's a werewolf hunter, and for reasons all but his own. Will I ever tell why he hates them so much? Maybe some day...

The newest member to my main character bunch. Red is a loose cannon, ready to blow you away with her arsenal of weapons that makes army soldiers look like kids. She's also a bit psychotic, so hey, it's all in good fun.

Alexis Valenti. Galaxy Officer, Superspy, Seductress.. Well okay, that last one isn't true, but she does know how to flaunt herself just a bit to get people's attention. That is, before she shoots them down. I mean seriously, what better way to get a clean shot, than to make your opponent stare at you dumbfounded and drooling?

All These are the characters that I did once, and pretty much never again. Just ideas floating in my head. Some turned out good, ever to the point that I carried them further and made them a big player. And others.. well lets just say, I won't be revisiting those ones..

If I talk about how cool a REALLY bad picture is, thats because it's old text and at the TIME, that was good for me. These go from oldest to newest. I have standards now.. really!

This is a little sample of what will soon be, the new Nav menu here. But this is definitely one of the best drawings i have ever done, as well as EASILY the most photoshop work. This was drawn freehand, and then scanned and colored 100% in photoshop. I wanted to see if i could do it, and I'm extremely happy with the results. This little project has been sitting on my mind since last year, and I FINALLY finished it about a month ago. Now, many plans for it.. many plans indeed.
