This is a secton to my site that I've added to just organize things more, and so I don't clutter up my freehand art page with tons of random pictures. These drawings are mostly quick sketches, like about 5 minutes, that I may use for other things, or maybe just to draw it for the heck of it. Some I've used for 3d Studio MAX assignments and yes! I DO have those up here! But 75% of these are rough sketches, drawn up really fast for just concept ideas. Still, you can all check them out. Especially looking at how some of them converge to CGI pictures, it's pretty cool.
This was just a picture made to get some ideas for cool scenes with windows. For my final MAX assignment in the 4th quarter, we had to make just some environment, and make it as good as we can. So reflections are fun in MAX, so I tossed the idea around of doing this one.
More MAX environment ideas. This was just some kinda of base or tower, nested in a mountian range. I chose not to do this mainly because making mountains and other organic shapes, are a real bitch to do in MAX when you dont know what you're doing. And at the time I was presented with the project, I had no clue how to do that sort of thing. No problem doing it now though.
This is, yet again, another possible MAX backround. It's meant to look like some kind of a reactor room. This would be actually extremely easy to model, but I asked people which backround they liked the best, and this wasnt the one picked at the time.
And Neither was this one, but it could have been cool too. This is just a shaft, most likely used for a ship to exit out of. A space ship of course.
And this one wasnt picked either! but thats okay. This one I'd much rather draw freehand actually, but it's just some crazy room with many different stairways, and those stairways go off in weird angles. I just wanted to mess with perspective.
This one wasn't picked either, and yet again i'm kinda glad. theres alot to this, so I would be a ESPECIALLY big pain to model, plus I have water to deal with too. Alot of things were weren't taught in the first class, but it stands nice on it's own. This is just some type of basement sewer system. Later on, for my Advanced Textures class, I did end up doing this scene. Since I knew what I was doing by then.. It turned out fairly decent.
But here we go! THIS was picked as my final (and first ever) MAX picture and you can look at it on the page following this one, that has my MAX pictures on it. You can also find that page under computer art. This is hard to see whats going on, but it's ment to be a futuristic scene with glass walkways connecting the builings around it. I hadnt determined if I wanted it way far up in the sky, or low enough that you could se the ground, so I didnt draw the ground in here. But the MAX picture is very very cool. I've never gotten a single comment of bad feedback about it. check it out and see the difference! Not bad for a first try.
This is a little temple scene, that I ended up using in a lighting assignment for my Camera and lighting class. Thats also on the MAX page, so go check it out!
Finally, we get out of the MAX pictures, this is a picture I actually did for someone else. And if you notice, this only has 5 colors in it. The white of the page, blue, green, black ink, and brown. I did this to give it a slight color toning, and it actually makes it look that much better. This is, yet another sketch, but it's a sketch taken to a high level.
The only drawing I have up here thats NOT sketch. But what more can I say about it? It's a castle. We had to draw a castle. So there you have it! This was done with markers too, just if anyone wants to know.

3d Studio MAX Backrounds
Usually before going to MAX, I draw up sketches, which is what you saw above. From the sketches, I then take it to 3d and model/texture.light/animate (if needed). Some have here, as you may have seen, have been used to make 3d scenes. So you can see those all on the MAX site.
Backrounds in MAX
This drawing was going to be my next MAX project, when I made it. But then things got crazy around here and it never ended up happening. Perhaps some day.
Anyway, this is just some weird alien world of some kind. I just started drawing randomly, so I didn't exactly have a direction I wanted to go with it. But still, turned out pretty decent.
